JAMMU, June 28: All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference in its meeting here today held under the chairmanship of its senior vice president, R K Raina has criticized the statement of Kashmir Bar Association president, Mian Abdul Qayoom opposing the construction of satellite townships in Valley for the return of Kashmiri Pandits.
The ASKPC said that the statement has evoked a lot of resentment in the community. Addressing the meeting Mr Raina said Mr Qayoom is mistaken as he does not know that KPs are aborigines of the Valley and hence they don’t need a certificate from him for their rehabilitation in Valley.
He said after being forced to flee from Valley the people like Mr Qayoom are deadly opposed to return of the community and want to deprive the community of its due place and rights.
He said that Pandits are at will and they will not allow the people like Mr Qayoom or other separatists to dictate terms always.
However Veena Gurtoo president Women Wing ASKPC welcomed the statement of Amnesty International on human rights of KPs which stated that Pandits were driven out by armed groups in 1990 in a conspiracy with ISI of Pakistan.
S K Bhat Executive member ASSKPC also criticized the deplorable statement of Mr Qayoom. He said KPs are not ready to become servitudes in their native places and to become easy targets as in 1990.
