ASI neglects ancient temple: Ex-MLC

SUNDERBANI, June 7: Chief spokesperson of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), Ravinder Sharma (Ex-MLC) has said that the historic ancient double roof temple at Channi Prat in Sunderbani is on the verge of collapse due to the neglect and official apathy of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) department.
It is one of the rarest ancient religious temple of its kind which had been taken over by ASI but the urgent repairs have yet to be taken up.
Mr Sharma who paid a visit to this historic temple today on the invitation of the Management Committee and local residents, paid obeisance and sought blessings of Lord Rama and Mata Sita besides taking part in the Langer attended by hundreds of devotees.
He interacted with prominent citizens and management who expressed great concern over the delay in the maintenance work by the Archaeological department. The historic temple can collapse anytime. They regretted the neglect and apathy of the concerned authorities of the state and Centre government towards these historic places. They expressed gratitude to the former MLC for taking keen interest in the historic place during his tenure and providing power transformer as well improvement of connectivity to the place.
He said the tourism department had also failed to do its duty and improve the facilities for the pilgrims and devotees all these years.
