JAMMU, Nov 24: A police officer was killed tonight in a road mishap in Barnai area of city outskirts.
“Assistant Sub-Inspector of J&K Police, Kirpal Singh (54) son of late Mewa Singh, resident of Digiana, received serious injuries today at about 8:45 pm, when a bike on which he was travelling, was hit by an unknown vehicle at Barnai on Jammu-Akhnoor Road”, a police official said.
On getting information of the mishap, the flying squad of Police Station Domana immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the injured officer to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
The official said that the deceased police officer was presently posted at District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu and was deployed on special duty at Jhiri Mela from where he was returning to his home after performing his duty.
He said the body of the deceased was sent for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at Police Station Domana and investigations started.
