ASI attached, HC suspended after protests

RAJOURI, Dec 24: An Assistant Sub Inspector was attached and Head Constable (Munshi) placed under suspension after the people from Bhawani and Kalsian area held strong protest demonstration and blocked road for about two hours at Nowshera town after the cops severely beat up a local youth today.
Reports said the people from Kalsian and Bhawani first assembled outside the Police Post at Bhawani in the morning and held protest for some time against the local police. They alleged that one Neeraj Kumar, son of  Yashpal, resident of  Kalsian was detained and severely beaten up by Bhawani police.
The locals claimed that one local youth Sunil Kumar, son of Mohinder Lal of the same village, who allegedly kidnapped a young woman of the area on December 17, contacted this youth on phone yesterday and after that the police picked him for questioning. The boy who had no role in the incident even cooperated and disclosed about the call. Despite this all  he was severely beaten up and detained illegally for long by the cops at police Post Bhawani.
Irate villagers and relatives of the youth then moved to Nowshera and blocked road from 2 to 4 pm and held strong protest against police. Later ASP Nowshera Parshotam Sharma and Tehsildar Nowshera reached the spot. They assured the villagers an inquiry into the matter. Later, the ASP after receiving preliminary report attached ASI Satya Parkash to DPL and placed Head Constable Ram Pal under suspension. The agitating public lifted dharna and allowed movement of the traffic.
