JAMMU, Sept 13: ‘Ashok Kapur Foundation’ organized a free medical camp for the unprivileged children of Nagbani area where specialist doctors from Narayana Hospital Kakriyal- Katra and DPS Jammu volunteered themselves for attending the camp.
The camp was organized to remember and pay tributes to Ashok Kapur in whose memory the ‘Ashok Kapur Foundation’ has been established. The Foundation (Trust) is committed to organize social activities especially in the areas of health, education and childcare through camps and workshops.
The programme began with the lighting of the traditional lamp by Ritu Singh, pro -vice chairperson, who is also the daughter of late Ashok Kapur. It was followed by presentation of medicinal plants to the dignitaries, Ganesh Vandana and a bhajan dedicated to late Ashok Kapur.
The teams of specialist doctors examined all the unprivileged children under different disciplines like vision checkup, ENT checkup, dental checkup and general checkup by the physician. The parents/children were also educated about the ways and benefits of cleanliness around their homes and localities.
They also brought awareness about the transmission and protection from different diseases, health & hygiene among the children and their parents. The first aid boxes containing medicines were also distributed to them free of cost.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajatshatru Singh, president RCT, spoke very high about late Ashok Kapur and stated that he was always helpful to poor and down trodden people in cash or kind. Adishree Ji also graced the occasion.
Earlier in his welcome address, R K Verma threw light on the objectives of this camp. He said Ashok Kapur Foundation firmly believes that only the healthy children of today can create a healthy and progressive community of tomorrow.
While addressing the gathering, Rohini Kapur (wife of late Ashok Kapur) and Dr Ajay Kapur (son of Ashok Kapur) stated that Ashok Kapur was a man of principles who always used to help the poor and needy people.
