JAMMU, Feb 19: Asarwan village in the Lower Bhalwal (Mishriwala) Panchayat of Jammu North constituency was certified under the ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ initiative, here today.
The certification was formalized during a function organized by the Jal Shakti Department under the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ program.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Jammu North and former Minister, Sham Lal Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sham Lal Sharma said, “Ensuring that every household has access to clean and safe drinking water is not just a goal but a mission we are committed to achieving. This initiative empowers our rural communities and enhances their quality of life.”
He lauded PM Modi’s vision behind the scheme and said, “The ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ initiative reflects our Prime Minister’s dedication to inclusive development. It addresses a fundamental need and showcases the government’s resolve to uplift every section of society.”
“Achieving 100% water supply coverage in Jammu North is a top priority. We are working diligently to ensure that every household receives a reliable water connection. I urge the Jal Shakti Department to implement effective management practices to streamline this process and overcome any challenges,” he added.
DDC Chairman, Bharat Bhushan, in his address, highlighted the significance of community participation in the successful implementation of Government schemes.
He urged the villagers to take collective responsibility for the maintenance of the water supply infrastructure to ensure its sustainability.
The ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ initiative, part of the broader ‘Jal Jeevan Mission,’ aims to provide piped water supply to every rural household by 2025.
This program emphasizes community involvement and active participation of Gram Sabhas in certifying villages that have achieved the objective of ensuring tap water connections to all households.
