JAMMU, June 4: MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta, today kick started the Field Channel Extension Project in Ward No. 32, Pouni Chak, a major irrigation infrastructure initiative being executed at a cost of Rs 63 lakh.
The project is aimed at strengthening irrigation facilities in the area, ensuring efficient water management, and providing much-needed support to the farming community. The extension of the field channel is expected to improve water availability to agricultural land, enhance crop productivity, and benefit a large number of farmers in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Gupta said that the development of irrigation infrastructure remains crucial for strengthening the rural economy and improving the livelihoods of farmers.
“Farmers are the backbone of our economy, and providing them with reliable irrigation facilities is one of our foremost priorities. This Field Channel Extension Project will ensure better water distribution, reduce wastage, and help farmers increase agricultural productivity. The BJP-led Government’s commitment to rural development and farmer welfare is reflected in such projects that directly benefit the grassroots,” he said.
Gupta further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, unprecedented attention has been given to strengthening agricultural infrastructure, promoting water conservation, and improving the socio-economic condition of farmers across the country.
“The completion of this project will not only address irrigation-related issues in the area but will also contribute significantly to the overall development of the agricultural sector. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that every village and farming community receives the benefits of development and modern infrastructure,” he added.
A large number of local residents, farmers, and party workers were present during the inauguration ceremony and appreciated the efforts being made to strengthen irrigation facilities in the area.
Among those present were Dharamvir Singh Jamwal, Deepak Sharma, Ganesh Sharma, Subash Chander, along with other prominent citizens and local representatives.
