NEW DELHI, Dec 10 : Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Nabam Tuki today formally called on Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS in PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Space and Atomic Energy.
This was the first meeting of the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister with Dr Jitendra Singh after the latter took over the charge of DoNER Ministry. Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, Ramesh Negi and other senior officers from the State also accompanied the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister gave a brief resume of the various ongoing projects in his State and requested Dr Jitendra Singh to help, on urgent basis, in two of the projects involving construction of a new Civil Secretariat building and a new Legislative Assembly building at the State capital Itanagar. He also urged upon the Minister to take up the proposals for setting up a new Stadium and a Civil Airport at Itanagar.
In response, Dr Jitendra Singh assured the Chief Minister that of the various projects suggested by him, the project of Civil Secretariat building, even though costing around Rs 128 crore, will be supported by DoNER Ministry to whatever extent possible so that the State Government is able to meet its target of having a new Civil Secretariat building by the month of February.
As far as the construction of Legislative Assembly building is concerned, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the work is already in progress but the pace is slow and assured that it would be expedited.
Dr Jitendra Singh further informed that around Rs 106 crore has already been earmarked for the ongoing projects in Arunachal Pradesh but added that for the new projects like Sports Stadium and the Airport, the matter will have to be taken up with the Union Finance Ministry.
The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the diligent handling of the DoNER Ministry by Dr Jitendra Singh. In response, Dr Jitendra Singh urged upon the Chief Minister to ensure that the State sharing investments in various projects do not get unduly delayed because in that case the 10% allocation marked for Northeast from the budgets of the Union Ministries also remains unutilized.
