BJP’s BDC tally touches 125

Jammu, Nov 7: Making a scathing attack on Congress and other opposition parties of erstwhile J&K State, BJP national general secretary, Arun Singh today said that Ladakh region remained deprived of development for 70 years under the Congress and rule of other parties in the region.
Talking to reporters after inaugurating the newly constructed party office in Leh today, he said within 70 days of coming into the power, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah have fulfilled the dreams of people by according the Union Territory status to Ladakh region.
He said that multifaceted development of Ladakh Union Territory region is the objective of his party so that the UT does not lag behind in development from other parts of the country. He alleged that Ladakh has been subjected to discrimination by the Congress and other opposition parties since 1947 but assured the masses that the era of discrimination has ended the day Union Home Minister, Amit Shah stunned all by announcing the grant of UT status to Ladakh on floor of Rajya Sabha.
He said it was the long pending demand of the people of the Himalayan region and without BJP no political party had shown guts to give justice to people of Ladakh.
Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said, Section 58 of JK Reorganisation Act has empowered the LG to enact the laws locally as per the requirements. Similarly, Hill Councils are also empowered in the Act, to recruit staff and protect the lands in Ladakh.
He said BJP will take every step in bridging the gap between Leh and Kargil and remove apprehensions of the people in this regard so that the vested elements’ designs to mislead the people, are thwarted.
Former MP and senior leader from Ladakh, Thupstan Chhewang said that the JK Reorganisation Act 2019 has given the LG special powers to exercise in consultation with the President of India. He added that to protect the land rights of Ladakh people the LG can exercise those powers in Ladakh itself.
BJP State organizational general secretary, Ashok Kaul also spoke on the occasion and assured the people that BJP will leave no stone unturned in development of this region at par with other parts of the country. He said Ladakh has a lot of potential for Eco Tourism and every step will be taken for its development.
Kaul said that BJP is emerging stronger and stronger in both the UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and the strength of BDC chairpersons of the Party has gone from 90 to 125 in the State now.
He said in Kashmir valley, 25 new BDC chairpersons joined the party during its programme at Tagore Hall Srinagar on November 5, while six BDC chairpersons had joined the party in Jammu recently taking its tally from 90 to 125.
Kaul said in Kashmir valley, BJP had won 18 seats of the BDC while 20 had been won by the Independents with the party support taking its tally in Valley to 38. But on November 5 the party honoured 67 BDC chairpersons in Srinagar. They included 25 more chairpersons who had won as independents and they also joined the party on that occasion.
He said in Jammu party had won 52 BDC seats and six more chairpersons joined the party later taking its tally to 58 in the region.
BJP senior leader and corporator, JMC Parmodh Kapahi, who is the incharge of party offices, also attended the inaugural function.
Former chairman Legislative Council, Kargil Haji Anayat and other senior leaders and Councilors from Kargil also attended the party function.
