SRINAGAR, Aug 25: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today said the restoration of Article 370 is impossible and that the politicians who have started their political activities revolving around Article 370 are day-dreaming about it.
The party, while referring the parties that have stated that they will strive for the restoration of the special status of J&K as “Gupkar Gang,” said that these parties have got nothing new to offer to people and that they are trying to make themselves relevant.
Altaf Thakur, J&K BJP’s spokesperson said that these parties were assuring people of J&K that Article 370 can never be abrogated and that if it’s done then there will be consequences.
“Now that it has happened, there is no possibility that the special status will ever be restored; these parties are now resorting to drama as they do not have anything to offer to people,” he said. Click here to watch video
He made their comments on the side-lines of the State Working Committee meeting that was held virtually at the party’s office in Srinagar.
Coming down on the rest of the regional parties of J&K, he said that the National Conference and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) kept people in illusion and had warned of grave consequences if the special status of J&K is fiddled with. “Now the reality is in front of you,” he said.
While terming these parties as power-hungry, he said: “They have been doing the political drama, and again, the Gupkar Gang is all over again doing the same. They are doing this to get hold of power again. They are power-hungry.”
He also said that the public knows that Article 370 is not coming back and that the people cannot be kept in dark anymore.
While saying that these parties have lost their political existence, he said that they (NC, PDP) are trying to keep themselves alive and relevant in politics because, after August 5 last year, their political existence has almost ‘vanished’.
While talking about the the recent spree of the resignation of party workers from J&K, he said that the workers who are associated with the party on the basis of ideology are well within the party folds.
“It is only those who are opportunists, they have resigned; our real workers are committed to the party despite killings,” he said.
