SRINAGAR, Apr 22: Police today denied that the driver of former Minister of State and sitting MLA who was arrested for Lashkar-e-Toiba links was a Special Police Officer (SPO).
A police statement issued here said that Fayaz Ahmad of Alsafa Colony, Sopore as reported by Daily Excelsior was an SPO with Jammu and Kashmir Police is factually incorrect. “The newspaper is refuted. The said individual is not at all associated with J&K Police”, the statement adds.
However, the Daily Excelsior stands by its story published titled: “Former Minister’s driver arrested for LeT links, AK-47 recovered”.
