Arrangements for Budha Amarnath Yatra discussed

POONCH, June 29: To make necessary arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra to Mandi, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Nisar Ahmed Wani today convened a meeting of district offcers, trustees of Shri Budha Amarnath Ji shrine, prominent citizens, heads of various religious organizations and social activists here today.
The Deputy Commissioner enquired about the necessary arrangements to be made for smooth conduct of 10 days long Yatra commencing from August 17.
Apart from making foolproof security arrangements, issues pertaining to availability of essentials including rice, atta, sugar and LPG cylinders besides medicare facilities, sanitation, accommodation, power supply and drinking water facilities were discussed threadbare.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to make elaborate arrangements for reception of the pilgrims, besides making elaborate provisions for security, accommodation and traffic regulation for smooth movement of the yatris. He also instructed the EO, Municipal Council to maintain cleanliness in and around the places where yatris will stay so that they may not face any inconvenience.
The Fire and Emergency Department was directed to set up fire tenders at all the halting stations enroute the Holy shrine. Health authorities were asked to establish medical camp near shrine and also keep standby ambulances at strategic locations. Wani also asked the BRO authorities to expedite the resurfacing BRO maintained roads.
It was decided in the meeting that under the overall supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, a committee of officers and prominent citizens will be constituted to coordinate and facilitate smooth conduct of yatra.
Senior Superintendent of Police, J S Johar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohd Saleem Malik, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shafeeq Ahmed Choudhary, Assistant Commissioner Development, Basharat Hussain besides Executive Engineers of PWD, PDD, officers of Army, BSF and several district officers attended the meeting.
