Arrangements for Baba Sidh Goria, Baba Chamlayal Melas finalized

SAMBA, May 27: Arrangements for the ensuing Baba Sidh Goria and Baba Chamlayal Mela were finalized at Swankha and Chamlayal respectively in two separate meetings chaired by MLA Vijaypur and former Minister, SS Slathia.
Baba Sidh Goria Mela will commence from June 16 for a week. A local committee has been constituted which looks after the affairs of the shrine and arrangements connected with week long mela. Out of the donations made by the pilgrims, the committee has constructed a community hall and 40 toilets for the convenience of the pilgrims.
Baba Chamlayal Mela will be held on June 27. People from all over the country visit the shrine. The shrine is famous for “Shakkar and Sharbat” known for its healing properties for the people suffering from skin diseases. A local committee has been constituted which manages the affairs of the shrine. The District Administration including Deputy Commissioner, RK Varma, SSP, Samba, Israr Ahmad Khan and officers of the PWD, PHE, PDD, Traffic, Health, CAPD, Transport attended the meetings.
Executive Engineer, PWD Division Samba was advised to keep the roads leading to both the shrines in good condition and take up repair on urgent basis particularly at critical spots. XEn, PHE was asked to ensure regular supply of drinking water during mela days. Both the departments will ensure barricading at the Mela sites wherever required. Executive Engineer, EM & RE was instructed to arrange stand by Genset to ensure availability of power particularly during night. CMO, Samba was asked to station an ambulance equipped with medicines, doctors and para-medical staff round the clock. ARTO/Traffic Police was asked to regulate smooth flow of traffic during mela and check overloading and overcharging.
Agriculture, horticulture, animal/sheep husbandry, handlooms, handicrafts, employment, Social Welfare Departments will install stalls at both the places during mela and make the people aware about the schemes implemented by the departments for the knowledge and benefit of the public.
