UDHAMPUR, June 6: The arrangements for 3-day historical Sudhmahadev Mela, commencing on June 21, 2013 at Sudhmahadev in tehsil Chenani of district Udhampur, were discussed in a meeting of district officers held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal here today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Surat Singh, Additional SP, Benam Tosh, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, Additional Commissioner, Revenue, S.S Sambyal, District heads of various departments and members of local mela committee were also present in the meeting.
Threadbare discussion on various arrangements like drinking water and power supply, medicare, sanitation, security, transport, accommodation, checking of rates of essentials and parking of vehicles etc. was held in the meeting.
The DDC directed Executive Engineer PHE to erect adequate number of public points at the mela site well in advance while Executive Engineer, PDD was asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply during mela days. He asked the Chief Medical Officer to depute a team of doctors with ambulance and required medicines to meet any eventuality at Chenani, Sudhmahadev and Mantalai round the clock besides directing Executive Engineer, PWD, to erect separate temporary toilets for males and females at the mela site and Mantalai for the convenience of pilgrims.
A committee comprising Assistant Director, CA&PD, Naib Tehsildar, Sudhmahadev and Food Inspector was constituted to keep a strict vigil on rates and quality of eatables besides adequate parking places would also be identified at different locations for smooth flow of traffic.
During the mela, various departments would set up their exhibition stalls to acquaint the people with state and centrally sponsored schemes. Besides, cultural programmes would also be organised. Tehsildar, Chenani would be the Mela Officer to supervise all arrangements.
The DDC stressed upon the officers concerned to make coordinated efforts in ensuring their arrangements well in advance to make the mela a grand success.
