SRINAGAR:   Alleging that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party has admitted its failure and tasked Army to get kids to the schools, former chief minister Omar Abdullah today said now people are waiting for good news about the protest calendar of the Hurriyat Conference.

Taking to micro blogging site Twitter, working president of the main opposition National Conference Mr Abdullah said, ”Another admission of the abject failure of the #jkpdp @MehboobaMufti government. Now the army is responsible for getting kids to school!”

He added, ”Army tasked with getting kids to school. @MehboobaMufti waiting for “good news” from the Hurriyat about their protest calendar. State Govt?

All the educational institutions in the Valley were closed on July 1 for summer vacations to reopen on July 17. However, the institutions could not reopen following massive protests after the death of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani and two other militants in encounter on July 8 at Anantnag.

Killing of Burhan followed by indefinite strike on separatist call since July 9 in the Valley, where life remained crippled for the past 122 days and more than 86 people were killed and thousands injured in security force and police action.

It is reported that Army in south Kashmir has now decided to persuade people to send their children to school who are staying away since the eruption of violence. (AGENCIES)
