Army recovers ‘Pak mines’ along LoC in Jammu

JAMMU :  Army troops today recovered ‘Pakistan made landmines’ along the Line of Control in Khour area of Akhnoor in this winter capital of the state.
“A search operation is being carried out by Indian troops since morning in the backdrop of a soldier’s death and injuries to two in a landmine explosion and cross border firing yesterday in Nathu Tibba area of sub-sector Keri in Khour area,” sources here told.
They said so far around five landmines have been detected and recovered from the area during searches, adding, “The recovered landmines are ‘Pak originated’ and there are apprehensions that taking an advantage of tough terrain, dense forest and bushes, the landmines have been planted to damage the Army troops patrolling along the fence.”
Sources however, said Pakistan had changed its strategy and now planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and landmines along the border to target Army troops, adding, “But the nefarious designs of the enemy will not be allowed to succeed.”    Army officials when contacted remained tight-lipped over the incident.
