JAMMU, Jan 16: Army today paid befitting tributes to Late Naik Rameshwar Lal, Late Gunner Ranjit Singh and Late Sepoy Chandrabhan Chaurasia, who had died in an avalanche near the Line of Control on January 13.
In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Maj Gen G S Kahlon, Chief of Staff, Chinar Corps and all ranks paid homage on behalf of the proud Nation. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects.

Owing to the recent heavy snow and blizzards, many locations across the Valley have been affected by avalanches and snow slides. Alert soldiers and well-rehearsed drills have ensured saving numerous lives and limiting losses. Late Naik Rameshwar Lal, Late Gunner Ranjit Singh & Late Sepoy Chandrabhan Chaurasia were part of a patrol from a forward post along the Line of Control. The patrol was hit by an avalanche on January 13, 2020 and these three succumbed to their severe medical conditions.
Late Naik Rameshwar Lal, 29 years, had joined the Army in 2009. He hailed from village Shind Pura of Nawa Tehsil, District Nagaur in Rajasthan and is survived by his wife.
Hailing from village Sidhpur of Gurdaspur Tehsil in Punjab, Late Gunner Ranjit Singh was 25 years old and had joined the Army in 2014. He is survived by his wife.
Late Sepoy Chandrabhan Chaurasia, 28 years, had joined the Army in 2015. He belonged to village Dumahi of Tehsil Tamkuhiraj, District Kushinagar of Uttar Pradesh. He is survived by his wife.
The mortal remains of the martyrs were taken for last rites to their native place, where they would be cremated with full military honour.
