SRINAGAR, July 19: The Army today paid floral tributes to a soldier, who was killed in Pakistan firing near the Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector in North Kashmir district of Kupwara.
Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that Army paid a befitting tribute with full military honours to the martyred soldier, Rifleman Bimal Sinjali, who sustained fatal bullet injuries when Pakistani troops violate ceasefire and fired at a forward Indian post from across the LoC at Naugam sector yesterday. He said he was provided immediate first aid and evacuated from the post. “The soldier succumbed to his injuries,” he added. Tributes to the valour and sacrifice of the late soldier was paid in a solemn ceremony held at Badami Bagh Cantonment here, he said.

Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen JS Sandhu paid homage to the martyr by laying a wreath on behalf of all Ranks of the Chinar Corps, they said, adding that floral tributes were also paid by senior officers from other security forces, besides the civil administration officials. Col Kalia said Rifleman, 21, had joined Army in 2015 and hailed from Village Sirukhark in Baglung, Nepal.
The martyr is survived by his wife Yashoda Sinjali and a one-year-old son. “The mortal remains of the martyr were flown for last rites to Subathu, HP, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours,” he said.
In this hour of grief, he said the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the martyr and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
