KISHTWAR, May 18: As a part of Army’s continuous endeavor towards health care in the district here, a medical mela under the theme “Tandurusti Hazar Neamat” was organised by the Army.
In the mela, screening for lifestyle diseases, blood donation camp, oral and dental check-ups, a lecture on healthy lifestyle and pre medical examination for various recruitment rallies of Army, para military forces and police were conducted.
The aim of the mela was to benefit the local population by providing quality medical assistance to the locals by doctors from Army and civil.
A joint team of doctors from Army and civil administration including lady doctors, nursing assistants and paramedics participated in the mela and provided medical assistance to the locals of all age groups.
A huge population thronged medical mela. In addition to medical treatment, the villagers were also educated on health related issues, healthy life style and provided free medicines during the camp.
The locals expressed their desire to organise such medical mela in future as well.
The mela was opened for all volunteer locals and men in uniform to donate blood for District Hospitals at Kishtwar and Doda.
The medical mela was instrumental in carving out a niche for better health efforts to be provided to the local populace.
