DODA, May 12: The Indian Army in close coordination with Civil Administration, District Sports Authorities and Jammu & Kashmir Police organized Inter-School Athletic Meet for Girls at HSS Ghat, here today.
The grand event conducted over three days witnessed participation of 250 girls from 15 schools of Doda district.
Various track and field events including 100 Mtr, 200 Mtr, 400 Mtr, 100 x 4 Relay, 1 KM Run and Shot Put were held during the Meet.
Tug of war, Fun games and Kho-Kho were also conducted as team events. 165 medals were up for grabs with 55 each in Gold, Silver and Bronze category. All the 250 participants were awarded with certificates of participation and gift hampers.
Enthralling performance and sports acumen displayed by the young girls engaged the people of Doda.
Event was witnessed by a big number of spectators.
The Initiative by Indian Army is aimed to select and field talented girl players at state and national levels. Selected players will further drive and inspire their peer group and local youth to achieve excellence in sports.
The people of Doda appreciated the efforts by Indian Army to encourage sports amongst youth in Doda district.
