Army organizes 1965 war celebrations

JAMMU, Aug 19: The Army’s Gurj Division in consonance with the national celebrations, to commemorate the golden jubilee of the victory of 1965 war over Pakistan, organised a felicitation ceremony for the war widows and war veterans at Military Station, Samba today.
An equipment display to showcase the might of the Indian Army which enabled India to thwart the Pakistan offensive was also conducted.
The ceremony was attended by 98 war veterans and 4 `Veer Naris’ of 1965 Indo- Pak war. The children of Army Public School Samba, KV Samba and Bhargava Public School also witnessed the equipment display.
The ‘Veer Naris’ and war veterans were presented with souvenirs as a token of appreciation and gratitude for their sacrifices and contribution which resulted in the glorious victory of the Indian army, writing a memorable chapter in the annals of history. The ceremony also symbolised that the nation would never forget its war heroes and those who made sacrifices for the glory of the nation.
