NEW DELHI, May 17: A delegation of Army Ordnance Employees today approached Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh, and sought the intervention of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) for their pending service matters.
The members of the delegation, led by Arvind Singh, General Secretary of the organisation, claimed that they represented the employees of the Army Ordnance Corps spread all over the country and appreciated the manner in which the DoPT Minister Dr Jitendra Singh had promptly given them an appointment to listen to their grievances. They took up the plea to accord DoPT approval for Draft Recruitment Rules Relaxation in Recruitment Rules for the post of Material Manager of Material staff of Army ordnance Corps in the Ministry of Defence.
The delegation also submitted a memorandum to the Minister wherein it was stated that the Ministry of Defence had sent a proposal for revision of the existing Recruitment Rules (SRO-7 of 14th January 2005) for the post of Senior Material Assistant of Army Ordnance Corps. The DoPT, according to them, had initially made some observations and sent back the proposal, suggesting that there should be some element of direct recruitment.
The members of the delegation submitted that the last cadre review had taken place on 7th August 2015, i.e. more than two-and-a-half years ago, but for want of revised recruitment rules, the promotional posts are still lying unfilled. They requested that a realistic view may be taken and accordingly, revised recruitment rules may kindly be finalized, so that this offers relief to the employees.
Dr Jitendra Singh gave a patient hearing to the members of delegation. He said, he will find out what were the observations made in response to the proposal from the Ministry of Defence. After receiving an update on the current status of the proposal, he said, he would issue directions for appropriate action.
