JAMMU, Oct 6: In line with Army theme of ‘Year of the Next of Kin’, a mega rally was organised by Crossed Swords Division at Tanda, Akhnoor today aimed to reach out to veterans, Veer Naris, widows and their families. It gave an opportunity to solve their pension anomalies, health related issues and grievances for extending legitimate benefits under schemes offered by Army Headquarters.
To make this noble endeavour meaningful, a holistic approach was adopted wherein more than 3000 ex-servicemen, widows, Veer Naris and their kin belonging to Akhnoor, Jaurian, Khour and Mera Mandrian Tehsils were felicitated with mobility aids and utility items.
The rally was attended by officials from Rajya Sainik Board, civil administration, different Departments of State Govt, Defence Pension Disbursing Office, Banks, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme and representatives of pension establishment.
The beneficiaries could benefit from a Multi Speciality Medical Camp providing expert advice by special team of Gynaecologist, ENT Specialist, Ortho Specialist, Ophthalmologist and Medical Specialists. Free medicines were also distributed. Awareness about latest Government and Army related benefits applicable to them by different State, Central and Army Agencies was created.
Addressing the rally, General Officer Commanding Crossed Swords Division reiterated that no incentive can ever compensate the sacrifice of soldiers and their kin, who have served the motherland. He also reassured the beneficiaries that the Indian Army will always be honoured to look after the well-being of its veterans and their families.
