JAMMU, Oct 11: An Army jawan today died of a gun shot under mysterious circumstances in Nagrota area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, Sepoy Jatinder Ohja (No 16 ICSU C/O 56/APO), resident of Gujarat, presently posted at Headquarters Nagrota died this evening due to a gun shot inside the Headquarters.
He said that the jawan had received gun shot in the left side of his chest. “In this connection, inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC were initiated at police station Nagrota, as it was not immediately clear whether the jawan himself opened fire on him or he was fired upon by some other person”, he further said, adding the body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
