JAMMU, May 7: Army jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon in his battalion in Jourian here today, police sources said.
The deceased was identified as Bobby (23), a resident of Uttar Pradesh. He was posted in Army’s 64th Battalion, which is stationed near Main Market Jourian.
After conducting post-mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to Army authorities for shifting the same to deceased’s native place.
Inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC have been initiated by Jourian Police in this regard.
