Army jawan among 2 killed, one seriously injured as car rolls down

RAMBAN, June 12: Two persons including Army jawan were killed, while one another got seriously injured, when the Alto K-10 car they were traveling in, skidded off the road and plunged into gorge near Kela Morh of the district on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

The ill-fated vehicle was on its way to Chamalwas from Udhampur, when the driver, who happens to be an Army jawan and posted in district Udhampur, failed to negotiate a sharp curve and the vehicle plunged into 200 meters deep gorge near Kela Morh, resulting into on the spot death of two persons and serious injuries to another.
After getting information, police team from Ramban Police Station led by Inspector Ajay Bhat along with SDRF and local volunteers rushed to the spot and rescued the injured person. The bodies of the deceased were also retrieved from the gorge.
The injured person was rushed to District Hospital Ramban, from where he was later referred to SKIMS Srinagar for advanced treatment.
After conducting autopsy, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to family members for last rites.
The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Mohammad Iqbal (Army jawan), son of Abdul Gani and Ramzan (35), son of Abdul Padyal, both residents of Chamalwas, district Ramban, while the injured has been identified as Mohammad Hanif (38), son of Abdullah Sohail, a resident of Chamalwas, district Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 89/18 under Section 279, 337 and 304-A RPC has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation started.
