Army helps KU to develop infrastructure

SRINAGAR, May 27:  The Chinar Corps Commander, Lt General Subrata Saha, today provided an assistance of over Rs 25 lakh to the University of Kashmir at a function here today as part of developing infrastructure of the alma mattar and assured more such help in future.
The assistance  includes two 17 seater buses; hostel items including 80 beds, 34 dinning tables, 200 chairs, 2500 blankets; Information Technology items including 25 PCs, 25 printers; Laboratory items; Geology field kits and books for various libraries.
Lt General Saha said that Army as a well wisher of the varsity provided the assistance to develop its infrastructure. He said that Army will provide all assistance which is required to develop Kupwara campus of the University.
The Corps Commander said that Army will make its contributions towards the Kashmir University in the way it wants.
Lt General Saha said that Army has been conducting the educational tours of the students of various schools and professional colleges and assured that such tours will be organized for the University including the faculty.
The Corps commander said that Kashmir University has sought Army’s help in infrastructure building of the Varsity last year. They also sought Army’s help to convince corporate houses across the country to help the Varsity in infrastructure development.
Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University, Khursheed Andrabi, said that since Kashmir University is a State university and State has limited resources and UGC has its own funding pattern and University is seeking help from the corporate.
Andrabi hoped that Army will take the distress message of the University to corporate.
