Army establishes COVID-19 telephone helplines

JAMMU, Mar 24: As part of country’s preparation and response for COVID-19, Army’s Northern Command has established multiple telephone helplines to provide information and assistance to people about coronavirus in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
“With the spread of novel coronavirus, there is a sense of uncertainty among the population, as many are not sure what measures to take to safeguard themselves and their family. To this effect the Army, has been constantly updating the public with all relevant information during this pandemic through various platforms”, PRO Defence Lt Col Abhinav Navneet said.
He said these initiatives are to ensure that the individuals do not become unwitting carriers of the virus and are well informed about the various preventive measures to be adopted. “In order to now provide immediate relief to those seeking advice or assistance COVID-19 Helplines will be made available across the Kashmir Valley”, he said.
Srinagar residents can reach out for help on 0194-2467326, the residents of other districts can seek assistance through helplines at Baramulla (0195-2238826), Kupwara (0195-5252996), Shalateng (0194-2496618), Awantipura (0193-3247087), Nagrota (01912547896), Akhnoor (01924254244), Rajouri (01962262477), Batote (01998-244361), Palma (01962261503), Reasi (0199124 5319) and Narian (01960230026). Helpline numbers for the UT of Ladakh are Leh (01982- 259011), Karu (01982- 249078), Kumbathang (01935-278113) and Partapur (01980-221013). The helplines will be active 24×7 to address general questions and concerns regarding the prevention of COVID-19.
“A ‘Humsaya’ to the Awaam in good times and through any challenge, the Army has yet again extended succour to the population of Kashmir by providing access to prompt information and help through these helplines. The joint efforts of all stakeholders in the national fight against Coronavirus Disease will ensure that the Awaam of Kashmir remains safe and healthy”, the spokesman said.
