Army deployment increased along borders in J&K: Lt Gen Hooda

JAMMU :  Northern Command Army Commander Lt Gen D S Hooda  today said  in view of recent terror attacks in Kathua and Samba districts  and melting of snow on the Line of Control, the deployment of Army troops along  the borders has been increased.
“Taking precautions in view of Samba and  Kathua terror attacks, the deployment of Army on the second-line of the  international border has been increased,” Gen Hooda told mediapersons  on the  sidelines of a function here.
He said  tight vigil was  also being maintained on the LoC, while more troops have been deployed as with  the onset of Summer, passes will open after melting of the snow and infiltration  attempts will rise.
“But our troops are on alert and maintaining vigil on  the borders,” he said adding that Army will successfully foil all cross-border  attempts.    The General further said around 350 militants are waiting  at the launching pads across the IB and LoC to sneak into Indian  Territory.
“Around 250 militants across IB and LoC in Jammu region and 100  across the LoC in Kashmir Valley are waiting to infiltrate but we are on alert  and ready to face any challenging task,” said the Army Commander.
On ISIS,  he said its presence is not there in Pakistan but near Afghanistan  border.    However, about Kashmir situation, the GOC-in-C apprehended that  Separatists can play the spoilsport and disturb the peace but the state police  can maintain law and order situation. (AGENCIES)
