JAMMU, Oct 11: Following some disturbing incidents, Army today conducted patrolling in Udhampur town and peripheries to restore confidence among the people.
Official sources said the troops carried out the patrolling in Udhampur town, where a Srinagar bound truck was set on fire causing burn injuries to three persons on the intervening night of September 9 and 10. Prior to that, some sacrilegious acts were reported from Chenani in Udhampur district.
Sources said the patrolling by the troops was aimed at maintaining peace and communal harmony at any cost and restore confidence among the people.
“It was not a flag march but normal patrolling. Army did it for the civilians,’’ sources said.
However, situation was completely normal in Udhampur town with no untoward incident reported from any part of the district after attack on the truck. Life was normal in Udhampur with shops and business establishments open and traffic plying as usual, both in the town and Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
