Arms haul in Handwara

SRINAGAR, May 18: Security forces today recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from Hafruda forests of Handwara in the  frontier district of Kupwara.
Srinagar based defence spokesman, Lt Col, N N Joshi said here that Army and police today launched a joint operation in Bod Banghas area of Nowgam after they received a specific information about presence of a militant hideout in the area.
The spokesman said that during searches large quantity of warlike stores including arms and ammunition were recovered. The recovered arms and ammunition include one AK Rifle, 616 rounds of ammunition, 5 pistols with 25 rounds, 15 hand grenades, one radio set, one binocular, one bag and large quantity of rations.
