JAMMU, May 28: Army and police today busted a militant hideout and recovered arms and ammunition from the higher reaches of Arnas in Reasi district.
Official reports said that based on specific information, the troops of 61 Rashtriya Rifles and Arnas police under the aegis of Uniform Force Headquarters, Reasi launched an operation and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in higher reaches of Lapri forest today.
Recoveries made after two days long intense search operations by Army and police included one AK-56 rifle with 31 rounds, a Chinese pistol, one hand grenade and other war like stores. However, no arrests were made either from the hideout or its surrounding areas during searches conducted by Army and police after the recoveries.
Reports said that the troops marched over a long distance in inclement weather to carry out the search of the forested area and recovered the cache hidden underground.
“The Rashtriya Rifles battalion at Talwara has relentlessly been pursuing counter terrorist operations to maintain peace and stability in the region,” official sources said.
