JAMMU, Jan 14: To acknowledge and honour the selfless devotion and sacrifice by the veterans, ‘Armed Forces Veterans Day’ was celebrated at Tiger Division here today.
The day was also dedicated to the indomitable spirit of the personnel who served the Armed Forces with pride and honour.
It is to mention here that, Field Marshal KM Carriappa, retired from service on January 14 in 1953 and as a mark of respect and recognition, the day is being celebrated as Veterans’ Day.
The celebration at “Tiger Division” was attended by Lt Gen Magotra, Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma and Maj Gen Jamwal and very many war veterans from Indian Army.
While interacting with the veterans, the GOC acknowledged and praised their contributions, who have served the nation in their prime years and are still serving under various capacities for serving and retired soldiers.
Veterans applauded the facilities provided for the veterans and efforts of Indian Army to reach out to veterans from far flung and borders areas.
