Apricot Day-cum-Exhibition held at Kargil

KARGIL, Aug 28: For the first time Krishi Vigyan Kender, Kargil organized Apricot Day- cum-Exhibition at Indoor Stadium here.
In the exhibition apricot Farmers from all over the district exhibited more than 50 varieties of apricot both in sweet kernel and bitter kernel variants. Krishi Vigyan Kender, Kargil also exhibited its products from apricot which includes, scientifically sulphited halman, osmotically  dried and value added wild apricot, Apricot Bar, Apricot cake and the main attraction of the exhibition was the osmotic ally dried wild apricot for diabetic patients.
The exhibition also includes Apricot Jam, Traditional Apricot Oil, Apricot Juice and the latest Apricot Jelly.
On this occasion, the Executive Councilor for Social Welfare and Rural Development LAHDC Kargil Syed Kazim Sabere was the chief guest.
He said that LAHDC Kargil is focused on developing the agriculture and live stock sector so that the poor people get an opportunity for earning a living and live a standard life.
Dr. Mehdi Akhoon Programme Coordinator Krishi Vigyan Kender, Kargil said through this camp people will know that how many products can be processed out of apricot and the ways to market these products for economical benefit.
Later, the chief guest distributed prizes amongst the farmers and Mqsooma Banoo of Minjee won the First Prize in Genotype Category for exhibiting 17 varieties of Apricot, Akhone Ali Shilikchey in Sun drying Category and Fresh Fruit Nermo (sweet Kenrnel) Category, Ali Hassan.
