KATHUA, Sept 23: J&K Apni Party today started its political activities by holding the first public meeting in Kathua in which large number of locals raised their voice against Toll Plazas on Jammu-Pathankot Highway and underdevelopment in Schedule Caste areas.
The meeting was organised by Nagesh Kumar and Sachin Bhardwaj in which the participants expressed their faith in the leadership of party president, Syed Mohammed, Altaf Bukhari and extended their support to the party.
While speaking on the occasion, Apni Party general secretary, Vijay Bakaya said the Apni Party had moved from strength to strength since it was formed on March 8, 2020 and he also hoped that those who were present would spread the message of the Party that “it would shun divisive politics and emotional slogans and take the UT on the road to development and would remain close to the people at all times.”
Bakaya emphasized that Apni Party had come into being at a time when there was a political vacuum to raise the voice of the people.
He hoped that the party would receive the support of all those who had joined it so far so that it could fulfill its vision of a prosperous and peaceful UT.
Apni Party provincial president and former Minister Manjit Singh speaking on the occasion, said that “We will not mislead the people with emotional sloganeering. Our motive is to promote brotherhood and unity among the people.”
He said that the party stands for equal development and employment opportunities in J&K. Speaking in reference to the concerns of locals, Manjit Singh said that there was strong resentment against the toll plazas in Kathua and Samba districts and the Government should look into the grievances of the locals.
Manjit Singh has also appealed to the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to personally look into the issue before it is too late. Ex-MLA, Prem Lal of Hiranagar said that Kathua lacks developmental activities.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Bodhraj Bhagat, Madan Lal Chalotra, Aijaz Kazmi, Gourav Kapoor, Abhay Bakaya, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, Yasir Choudhary, Joginder Singh, Sohail Mian, Anees Choudhary and others.
The local youth of Kathua who were present on the occasion include Nigesh Kumar, Sachin Bhardwaj, Tirth Ram, Anita Andotra, Mukesh Bawa, Pardeep Singh, Ritesh Kumar, Anil Kumar and Rakesh Kumar.
