Apni Party appeals Govt to announce financial package for transporters

JAMMU, June 3: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) senior leader and former minister Manjit Singh has appealed to Lt Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to announce financial package for the transporters of the Union Territory.
Concerned over the plight of the commercial, passenger vehicles owners, their drivers, and helpers, the J&K Apni Party leader has appealed to the Government to look into their sufferings and help them to come out of the financial crisis they are passing through amid the ongoing COVID lockdown in the Jammu and Kashmir like rest of the country.
The pandemic situation has caused extra-ordinary damage to the survival of the truckers, bus operators, drivers and conductors who were dependent upon public movement which got curved in view of the Coronavirus spread free, he said.
He said that the families of the transporters are facing starvation like situation not only in Jammu, but in Kashmir as well.
“There is an urgent need for a comprehensive policy for the transporters in Jammu and Kashmir and the Government must work in this direction to help the needy families of drivers, helpers and conductors and also give a financial package for their revival,” added Manjit Singh.
Former Minister has also appealed to the Government to ensure toll plaza and taxes on small routes in municipal committee limits should not be charged from the mini-buses and all type of load carriers.
“Such taxes have made the small transporters or load carrier owners who buy vehicles loan to suffer. These taxes must be withdrawn for atleast two years,” he appealed.
