JAMMU, Dec 26: A 10-member delegation led by All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC), an amalgam of various Kashmiri Pandit organizations and the apex body of Pandits working at ground level in Kashmir Valley for the restoration of religious heritage, today called on the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma as a part of their “Mission Contact” to seek help for resolution of their 6-point charter of demands.
The demands which were presented to the Minister included smooth passage of Kashmir Temples and Shrines Management Bill in J&K Legislature. The delegation briefed the Minister about their nation-wide long struggle for seeking passage of Temple Bill in the Assembly. The delegation told the Minister about the ground reality and objective for passing the proposed legislation for protecting the Hindu shrines in the Kashmir Valley. They sought his support for the cause.
The Minister gave patient hearing to the delegation and said that the Bill is under the consideration of the Government for want of more views of various stakeholders in the State. He, however, maintained that Government will safeguard their interests and protect the Hindu shrines and properties at all costs. He said Government is concerned about this sensitive issue and efforts are afoot to enact an appropriate law to deal with the matters relating to the shrines and properties attached to them.
The delegation led by Vinod Pandit, Chairman APMCC comprised of King Bharati, National Spokesperson All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC/Gangbal Trust), Advocate Arun Kandroo, General Secretary APMCC, Advocate Rajesh Tingloo, Incharge Legal Cell and Members of various religious organizations of Kashmiri Pandits.
