While we keep on duly noticing the overall dedicated services by the medical fraternity especially during the current trying days of Corona pandemic, there are, however, heart rending reports too, though sporadic, pouring in where apathy, recklessness and neglect are faced by the patients. Samba District Hospital is reported to have denied admission to an expecting mother, the result of which was the woman delivering the baby on the roadside. Praiseworthy are those persons particularly women who helped the woman in such difficult moments and on the road and kept human values and Indian traditions above all considerations.
Why should the hospital authorities, at such a critical and sensitive stage of labour pains the woman was suffering from, insist on and ask for production of the COVID test report? Was it possible as conducting of the test and procuring the report on that to be submitted in order to get admission was a time bound exercise and till that, the woman could not obviously wait and the result thereof being the patient on the road. While we hope the matter to be got probed into, at the same time, let this incident be the last of its kind in deference to medical, moral and humanitarian tenets
