JAMMU, Apr 22: Association of Industries (AoI), Jammu today expressed serious concern over power issues in industrial area, Gangyal.
The issues came up for discussion during a meeting of AoI held under the chairmanship of Rajesh Jain, president, AoI Jammu, at the Association office, Gangyal. The members discussed in detail the present scenario of power sector in Industrial area, Gangyal. SB Abrol (general secretary), Vijay Sharma (secretary) and Sanjeev Vig (treasurer) were also present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the delaying tactics in installation of 50 MVA Transformer at Gangyal Grid Station despite assurances since long. Rajesh Jain stated that we are suffering a lot of difficulties in expansion of existing industrial units and opening of new units on account of non-availability of power.
Jain further raised the issue of delegation of power to junior officers for sanctioning of power loads. “At present, sanctioning of power sanction is very cumbersome and time consuming to industrial sector. It takes years to get power connection for an industry and an entrepreneur has to run from pillar to post for getting the same”, he alleged.
Regarding waiver of surcharge, Jain said that those industrial units which are closed due to any circumstances and their power connection has been disconnected by the Power Development Deptt, their surcharge should be waived off and they may be allowed to surrender the power connections with concern division only.
He appealed Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, who also holds the charge of Power Ministry,  to solve all their issues regarding power at the earliest.
