NEW DELHI, Apr 29:
Defence Minister A K Antony today reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and in the region with the top security brass.
Defence Secretary R K Mathur along with the three Services chiefs were present in the meeting, Defence Ministry officials said.
The meeting is understood to have discussed the security situation in J&K where recently two Army personnel including a Major-rank officers were killed in encounter with terrorists.
Forces deployed there fear that there might be an increase in infiltration attempts and incidents in the near future with the onset of summer.
The impact of the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan on terrorism in J&K is also understood to have come up for discussion during the meeting.
This was the first security review meeting attended by Admiral Robin Dhowan, who took over as the Navy chief earlier this month after the previous incumbent took voluntary retirement owning moral responsibility for the mishaps involving naval assets. (PTI)
