Anti-drug rally held at Kathua

KATHUA, Feb 7: The Range Police Headquarters Jammu organized Anti-Drug Rally here today.
IGP Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar and DIG Jammu, Shakeel Ahmed Beig flagged off the rally from Degree College Kathua which passed through the main bazaar of Kathua, in which about 1200 students from 11 schools of the district alongwith staff participated. The students were chanting anti-drugs slogans.
IGP Jammu while speaking on the occasion said that all out efforts will be made to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society in all the districts of Jammu Zone. He further said that drug de-addiction centre has been established by the Police at Gulshan Ground Jammu for the treatment and counselling of drug addicts.
DIG said that the rally has been organized by the Police under Civic Action Programme with a view to keep the young generation away from drug addiction so that they remain physically and mentally fit. He further said that special drive against drugs/narcotics has been launched in Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range and during the drive various awareness programmes will be organized at different places.
Banwari Lal, Principal Degree College Kathua, Neeva Jain, SP Kathua, Nasir Khan, Addl. SP Kathua, Mushim Ahmed, Dy.SP Hqrs. Kathua, Kuljeet Singh, Dy.SP DAR and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
