NEW DELHI, Feb 27: Vice President Hamid Ansari today released a biography of Dr B R Ambedkar focusing on evolution of his thinking, thought process and strategic stance that he took from time to time.
“I value this book because of two reasons — one that it puts in one place all that is relevant about Babasaheb’s thinking and writing. And secondly, that it takes focus on areas which need to be explore further,” Ansari said.
The book, authored by Member, Planning Commission, Narendra Jadhav, incorporates all of Ambedkar’s writings and most important speeches that he delivered.
Unlike the conventional style of biography writing, the book primarily focuses on Ambedkar’s intellectual making, evolution of his thinking and thought processes and the strategic stance that he took from time to time, Jadhav said.
Jadhav said he was inspired by Jairam Ramesh to come out with a biography on Ambedkar as the Union Minister had been insisting him to produce such work.
“In 1992, when I wrote my first book titled economic thoughts and philosophy of Babasaheb Ambedkar, it was Ramesh who wrote about that in a weekly column and since then he has been insisting my writing on an analytical biography,” he said.
Referring to a chapter in the book which contains a dialogue between Mahatma Gandhi and Ambedkar, Ansari said that the roots of some of the challenges which society faces today could be traced to the aspects and the thought processes in their conversations.
He said while Gandhi and Ambedkar had different solutions to a problem, they ultimately converged their ideas to address the issues of their times.
Ansari called the book an “intellectual biography in the best sense of the word” and said it would be immensely beneficial to an entire generation of M.Phil and PhD students who may wish to write about Ambedkar. (PTI)
