Annual “Storlok” ceremony concludes

Leh, Mar 17: With the burning of “Storlok” amid chanting of sermons by monks from Phyang Monastery, the five days “storlok”, an annual religious ceremony concluded here today.
The “Storlok” also known as “menakpa” in the form of a grand religious procession commenced from Chowkhang Vihara and culminated at Katmochey where it was put into flame signifying the victory over evils.
The religious procession was led by Phyang Monastery head Lama Skabje Togdan Rinpochey, LBA President Tsewang Thinles, Youth Vice President Konchok Stak and Leh Phumdho Society President Tsewang Nurbo and other members.
The “storlok” was organized by Leh Phodo Cultural and Welfare Society to bring peace, harmony, unity in the society besides it helps to avoid natural calamities and other deadly disease.
Interacting with media, Leh Phodo Cultural and Welfare Society Cultural Welfare Society President Tsewang Nurbo mentioned about the historical importance of procession which dated back to the time of Maharaja and it had been continuing since centuries. He added that this religious practice has been continuing since centuries and as a part of ceremony monks of the Phyang Monastery had been performing ritual.
