JAMMU, Feb 14: KC Public School organized an Awareness Programme about Animal Rights to make students understand the urgency about the need for international cooperation in order to address matters of animal welfare which is a grave global concern.
The programme was organized as part of the ISA projects under the British Council.
The special invitee was an eminent resource person, Malvika Kalra , a pioneer at rehai.freedom foranimals supported by the Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organization. (FIAPO).
Through a powerful PowerPoint presentation, she showed heart rending slides of animals suffering at the hands of human beings and how atrocities towards animals have become worldwide phenomena.
She said in every country, animals are being abused, exploited, abandoned, neglected and ignored.
She also gave information about the ‘Five Freedoms’ that are internationally recognized as being fundamental to animal welfare which are: freedom from hunger and thirst; freedom from discomfort; freedom from pain, injury and disease; freedom from fear; and freedom to express normal behaviour.
