JAMMU, May 11: Anganwari workers and helpers today took out a protest rally here from Press Club demanding withdrawal of their termination order issued by State Mission Director, ICDS.
Hundreds of Anganwari workers and helpers under the banner of J&K National Trade Union Front (JKNTUF) assembled in front of Press Club and then took out a protest rally which after passing through the main bazaars of Jammu culminated again at Press Club.
The protesting Anganwari workers and helpers raised slogans against the Government and the ICDS authorities for issuing the unlawful and unjustified order for their termination.
The protestors said that those who have been terminated are in thousands and their appointment and to follow the proper procedure was the responsibility of the authorities who during this long period miserably failed to fulfill the required procedure for no fault of poor Anganwari workers and helpers.
The protestors condemned the attitude of the State Government particularly the ICDS Minister for harassing and victimizing the poor Anganwari workers and helpers by issuing termination orders with malafide intention to enroll his own people in the ICDS.
They appealed the Chief Minister and concerned Minister to intervene personally in the matter to save the poor workers from this termination order. They also appealed all the ICDS workers of the State to fight unitedly and press the Government for immediate withdrawal of the controversial termination order.
The protestors also highlighted their other demands like enhancement of honorarium of Anganwari workers and helpers to Rs 10000 and Rs 5000 per month, respectively; removal of pay anomalies of ICDS supervisors at par with their counterparts in other states of the Country; etc.
