SUNDERBANI, July 29: Anganwari workers of Social Welfare Department today held a protest demanding immediate arrest of BJP workers who yesterday allegedly manhandled Chief Development Project Officer (CDPO) Sudhir Bali in Sunderbani.
A large number of Anganwari workers this afternoon assembled on Jammu-Poonch National Highway in front of police station Sunderbani and raised slogans against BJP workers and police. The protesting women also blocked the Highway for half an hour.
The protesting Anganwari workers alleged that some BJP workers on Friday entered PWD Dak Bungalow where the CDPO Sudhir Bali was chairing a meeting of village counseling committee. They alleged that the BJP workers hurled abuses and later manhandled the officer Bali after he tried to pacify them.
Alleging that despite submission of a complaint to police station Sunderbani by the CDPO, no FIR has been registered against the accused BJP workers, the protesting women demanded immediate arrest of all the accused BJP workers.
On getting reports of protest and road blockage, SDM Sunderbani, Kartar Singh, Tehsildar Sunderbani, Vijay Sharma and SHO Sunderbani, Pardeep Gupta rushed to the spot and controlled the situation by assuring that the action will be taken against accused.
When contacted, SHO Sunderbani, Pardeep Gupta said, that they have received two written complaints, one from CDPO Sudhir Bali and other from local BJP workers. He said that the CDPO has alleged in his complaint that he was abused and manhandled by some BJP workers while the complaint from BJP workers stated that the CDPO manhandled and slapped one of the party workers.
He said that they are conducting inquiry into the matter. However, no FIR has been registered in this connection till now.
