Google has unveiled its latest version of Android operating system “Android 5.0 Lollipop” or simply will be called Android lollipop
The latest version of android has new material design as stated by Google.As of now the latest devices getting the update are Nexus devices.There were lot of speculations what new Android version will be called but now we name It Lollipop.The new Android 5.0 has many new features to offer
Lets take a look at few interesting features of Android 5.0 Lollipop
Performance increase
Android L has better performance than its previous version.Google claims over 2x performance than previous version.
This is due to new Compiling method.Android 5.0 Lollipop makes the switch from the Dalvik compiling method ( that processes applications on the go) to ART compiling method, which provides more efficient compiling.

Android L will also support ARM, x86 and MIPS as well as 64-bit instructions as standard.
Battery life
Android has introduced ‘Project Volta’ in Android l to optimise battery life. This will include a new battery saver feature, which it claims will extend battery life by up to 90 mins on existing devices such as the Nexus 5.
As Said by Google
“And because we’re using our devices a lot more, there’s a new battery saver feature that extends the life of your device by up to 90 minutes—helpful if you’re far from a power outlet”
A battery predictor will also tell users exactly how long they have to leave the device plugged in before it is fully charged.
Security and Lock Screen
Called as ‘Personal Locking’, devices running Android L will have the ability to unlock the device without having to enter a PIN code.Device will determine whether the person opening the phone is the owner of the device. Device aims to do this by recognising if they are in ‘trusted environment’ by use phones hardware like camera etc . You can set your secure location in settings, such as ‘home’ or ‘office’, and the phone will not present the pin-lock when you are in this location.
Similarly the device will be unlocked without the need for a password if there is synced Bluetooth wearable device nearby.
For Bussiness people
Google wants to make it easier for businesses to deploy Android. The firm has tied with Samsung to take advantage of its ‘Knox’ secure. Knox will be present Android L as standard. This allows you to separate personal and work data.
Android 5.0 Lollipop will have these features natively, For Icecream Sandwich and above Google will provide an app to make this functionality available.
Improved Chrome app
Google Chrome has been deeply integrated into Android L. The new material design interface is quite visible in app.Seems that it has been carried over to the web browser even in real-time.
Keyboard

Notifications
Android 5.0 Lollipop has improved notifications. Now you will be able to get a full notification appear on the lock screen , then either double tap to launch apps or swipe them away (this feature is already present in some launchers like Go launcher).
Icons & Settings
Android 5.o Lollipop has introduced simple and bold system icons.Google wants to make things as clear and simple as possible. Follow Yantragyan on Facebook for more Updates.The icons on for home, back and recent apps have also been changed – are in form of a triangle, circle and square.
Within Android L, you will see one of three types of buttons emphasised – a circular ‘floating button’, a rectangular ‘raised button’ and a more traditional ‘flat button’.
These will represent key actions within apps and Google recommends developers limit themselves to using one type of button design per page.
Widgets
Android L introduces two types of widget. The Recycler View widget and Card View widget
