Andrew Garfield to star in ‘Angels in America’

LOS ANGELES, Feb 4:  Actor Andrew Garfield is returning to his stage roots at Britain’s National Theatre in a revival of Tony Kushner’s AIDS drama “Angels in America”.
The “Spider-Man” star, who earned a Tony Award nomination for his last stage gig in Broadway’s “Death of a Salesman” in 2012, will tackle the lead role of Prior Walter, a gay who is visited by an angel after his lover leaves him upon learning of his AIDS diagnosis, reported the Los Angeles Times.
Stephen Spinella originated the part on Broadway in the early 1990s and Justin Kirk was cast as Prior in Mike Nichols’ acclaimed TV movie adaptation in 2003.
“Angels in America” will debut at the London venue in May, 2017. (PTI)
