Long pending demand settled: Dr Narinder

JAMMU, Dec 13: Implementation of ‘Anand Marriage Act’ in Jammu & Kashmir has been a long pending demand of Sikh community. Framing of ‘Jammu and Kashmir Anand Marriage Registration Rules, 2023’ for the registration of “Anand Marriages”, has fulfilled this long pending demand of the community, said Ranjodh Singh Nalwa and added that this step would alleviate many problems faced by the Sikh couples here and abroad.

Nalwa said that under new rules, the tehsildar concerned shall be the registrar of such marriages within their respective territorial jurisdiction.
The Minority Morcha of BJP Jammu & Kashmir thanks the Prime Minster of India, Narendra Modi and LG Manoj Sinha on the implementation of Anand Marriage Act in Jammu & Kashmir. “We also congratulate the Sikh community of JKUT for the implementation of Anand Marriage Act which was long pending demand of this community”.
One of the major demand of Sikh community in JKUT was implement of Sikh Marriage Act, which was delayed due to the Article 370 in the erstwhile State of Jammu & Kashmir. Now, the LG of JKUT passed Marriage Act 1909 Section 6 on order passed by Centre Home Minister on 19th April, 2016. The tehsildar will issue two copies between 15 days of marriage to both parties without any fees after registering the marriages.
Nalwa added that with this step, once again Modi Government has proved that it is working for welfare of every person irrespective of region or religion.
Seh-Prabhari Minority Morcha J&K, Sanjeev Singh Bali, Morcha vice-president, Harpal Singh Bali, Morcha chief spokesperson, Dr. Surjeet Singh, spokesperson Yashpaul Singh, and others were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile BJP national secretary, Dr Narinder Singh has also welcomed the decision of the LG Government to frame rules for the Anand Marriage Act and said this way a long pending demand of the Sikh community in J&K was fulfilled. He said this shows that Modi Government is committed to welfare of all communities irrespective of caste religion and region.
