JAMMU, July 8: Government has banned manufacturing, sale and distribution of Analgin, Dextropropoxy phene, Pioglitazone and fixed dose combination of Flupenthixol+Melitraction following detection of ill effects of these drugs on human beings.
A formal notification in this regard has been issued by Controller Drugs and Food Control Organisation, J&K after the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued Gazetted notification suspending manufacture, sale and distribution of these drugs with immediate effect under section 26A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940.
According to Satish Gupta, the Controller Drugs and Food Organisation, the drugs have been banned as their use was likely to involve certain risk to human beings while safer alternatives are available.
The manufacturers licensed to manufacture the said drugs or these formulations, if any, in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, are informed that their licenses for the same are suspended with immediate effect, says a communiqué issued by the Controller Drugs. The Chemists and Druggists are also directed to stop the sale of these formulations with immediate effect and return the un-used stocks to their original manufacturers, the communiqué added.
